Parent Grief Information for Professionals

Therapy for Parents Grieving the Loss of a Child

Compassionate, trauma-informed individual therapy for parents grieving the loss of a child, including adult children.

My approach honors the depth and complexity of parental grief while supporting each parent’s continuing connection with their child.

When This Support May Be Helpful

I work with parents experiencing:

  • The loss of a child or adult child, including sudden, unexpected, or traumatic loss

  • Profound changes in identity, meaning, or purpose

  • Strain or changes within relationships following the loss

  • Feelings of isolation or difficulty feeling understood by others

  • Depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, or substance use concerns accompanying parental grief

  • A desire to explore or honor their continuing connection with their child

My Approach to Parental Grief

I understand grief as an ongoing process of integration rather than something to overcome or “get over.”

Therapy may include attending to and bearing witness to the full range of a parent's experience, processing traumatic aspects of the loss, making space for the complexity of grief, reconstructing meaning, and honoring the continuing bond between parent and child.

My work is informed by specialized grief training, extensive clinical experience treating trauma, and my lived experience as a bereaved mother. In 2024, I lost my 26-year-old son, Max.
